9 Jan 2008 - Despite objections from Preston City Council, 7 Parish Councils and over 130 letters of objection from local residents, today Wyre Borough Council passed plans for the Temporary Showground.

 

11 Dec 2007 - The Lancashire branch of the Council to Protect Rural England (CPRE) said this week they have asked the government to look at the plans.
They consider the development is too significant to be left with local planners and should be examined at a national level.
Royal Lancs chairman Mr Gordon Roberts admitted yesterday (Tuesday) that a call-in would cause major problems for show bosses for 2008.

28 Nov 2007 - NO2DUCHYPARK lodged their formal objection to the Showground Application with Wyre BC.

27 Nov 2007 - Following receipt of Lancashire Constabulary's reply concerning policing costs surrounding the RLS, indicating that only MINIMAL costs may recovered from the organisers, we have again written to the Constabulary on this matter. Early estimates indicate that policing costs associated with the Show could amount to £50,000 +, and yet, contrary to the national Guidance for Charging for Police Services drawn up by the Association of Chief Police Officers which dictates that FULL COST recoveries should be made, the Lancashire force is seeking to recover only MINIMAL costs. Would such a policy be adopted for other events e.g. pop concert, footlball games etc.? What makes the Duchy of Lancaster/Royal Lancashire Show a special case?

12 Nov 2007 - At Myerscough & Bilsborrow Parish Council meeting, Councillor Bill Robinson said that "there where other alternative sites that the Royal Lancs. Show could use" and referring to the traffic management plan he said that "there is no way that you can get two pints into a pint pot".

30 Oct 2007 - NO2DuchyPark launch their own website to provide more detailed information to a wider public, keeping them fully up to date with developments.

 23 Oct 2007 - Duchy of Lancaster lodge their official Planning Application with Wyre Borough Council.

 23 Oct 2007 - NO2DuchyPark write to the Chief Constable of Lancashire Constabulary seeking his views on the Duchy’s Traffic Plan, to establish the cost and the adoption of national guidelines with regard to resources.

 12 Oct 2007NO2DuchyPark Action Group formed to bring together the numerous parties already expressing concern and opposition to the Duchy plans.

 11 Oct 2007 – Second open meeting attracts over 200 concerned locals. Other than for Duchy representatives, no-one addressing the meeting speaks out in support of the scheme. Meeting concludes with Cllr. K. Hudson MBE, JP (Leader of Preston City Council) pledging that his Council will oppose the Plans.
